GERBANG KARISMA: Encouraging Bilingual Skills and Awareness Through Anti-Bullying Education
Banyuwangi, MAN 4 Banyuwangi – The spirit of bilingual education continues to flourish at MAN 4 Banyuwangi through the GERBANG KARISMA (Gerakan Berbahasa Asing Kampung Inggris Madrasah) program. This activity was held at the mosque of MAN 4 Banyuwangi shortly after the Dhuhr prayer in congregation, and was attended by enthusiastic students eager to enhance their foreign language skills.
During this session, Galang Areta Ghiffari, a student from class X-1, served as the speaker and presented material on the topic of Bullying. Delivering his talk in both English and Indonesian, Galang succeeded in capturing the audience’s attention by addressing an issue that remains highly relevant among students.
In his presentation, Galang explained that there are two types of bullying, emphasizing the importance of understanding each form to prevent them from occurring. He further highlighted one effective way to end bullying — by reporting the perpetrators to an authority figure or a trusted person. His clear and confident delivery inspired fellow students to be more aware and proactive in creating a safe and respectful school environment.
The GERBANG KARISMA program at MAN 4 Banyuwangi serves as a platform for students to practice foreign languages while discussing meaningful social topics. Through this initiative, the school continues to foster students’ linguistic competence alongside their moral and social awareness.
By combining language learning with character education, MAN 4 Banyuwangi reaffirms its commitment to nurturing intelligent, communicative, and compassionate individuals ready to contribute positively to society. (BK)
